A game is not only a visual experience, but also an audio one. The gameplay can be experienced through many senses. In some titles, even the theme is music or listening mainly to the dialogues.
That’s why it’s so important to make sure that not only the image quality is high, but also the sound quality.
What can be done to enjoy better sound during gameplay? The first thing that immediately comes to mind is, of course, a set of decent speakers hooked up to the computer. By spreading them out at the right distances on both sides, you can create a truly amazing listening experience that will be heard very clearly, and spatially. You can get wired or wireless speakers. The advantage of the former is that you won’t have to take care of charging them.
For some people, however, too many tangled cables can be annoying. Wireless speakers, on the other hand, can be placed where and how far you want. However, you will need to constantly monitor their charging status, so they can sometimes stop working when you least expect it.
Another important point, which is often considered even more important than the quality of the speakers purchased itself, is taking care of the acoustics in the room and thus the positioning of the speakers. The carpet in the room, especially close to the player, plays a counter-intuitive role in the quality of the sound, which is cleaner and fuller thanks to the down addition of the floor.
The positioning of the speakers, on the other hand, is important because locating them at an equal distance between the user and the wall can equalize the time for the user to receive the music. This seems insignificant, as it is a matter of seconds, but it makes the sound more precise to the ear. In addition, any “heavy” room decoration can help. It’s better to play in a smaller room with small windows than a spacious, open place where the sound may simply echo through the lack of furniture covering the walls. So the more paintings, curtains, furniture, etc., the better you can pick up the sound in your computer, speaker cabinet or not.
The solution for those who are not fans of speakers, but prefer to be locked in with their own game, the best solution is headphones. Good quality, often more expensive, in-ear headphones immediately mean better sound quality. As with speakers, you can choose either wireless or headphones with a cable. The former may have slightly worse sound than wired ones, but they are instead very comfortable, especially for gamers. Although it may sound rather funny, an accidental snag with the cable can decide negatively about those few seconds of gameplay.
Regardless of whether you choose wired or wireless headphones, well-maintained, clean cables and inputs on your computer guarantee the highest quality sound.
In addition to additional accessories such as speakers and headphones, it is worth taking care of the computer itself, amplifying it with its own drivers and applications that can amplify audio. Such applications include Boom 3D and Surround 3D. For headphone fans, there is a Dolby Atmos feature for surround sound in Windows, which can achieve much higher quality audio on headphones.
